The healthcare industry today is revolutionized thanks to the technological advancements witnessed by the world. Ever since Artificial intelligence (AI) was introduced in the medical practices, several treatments are now possible with lots of ease.
Ethics and governance of artificial intelligence for health report published by the World Health Organization notes that AI can be used in order to improve the speed and accuracy of diagnosis and screening for diseases. The UN-backed agency said today AI is already being used in many developed nations not only for speeding up the treatment but also as assistance to clinical care, strengthening health research and drug development, and support diverse public health interventions, which include outbreak response and health systems management.
Along with the encouraging its use, the WHO also warned about the other side of AI. Director-General of the World health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said “Like all new technology, artificial intelligence can also be misused and cause harm.”
