J&J COVID-19 VACCINE NOW CAN BE USED FOR FOUR & HALF MONTHS FROM THE DAY OF MANUFACTURING

American pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson on Thursday said that United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has extended the expiry date of the its COVID-19 vaccine by six weeks.

The US FDA came to a conclusion following a review that the vaccine maintains its efficacy for a period of minimum four and half months said J&J, which is due weeks more than what was previously approved by the regulators. The FDA had initially announced that the J&J vaccine will remain safe and effective only till three months when stored at normal refrigeration levels.

According to J&J, the FDA decided to extend the expiry by six weeks on the basis of the data from ongoing studies that assess the stability of its COVID-19 vaccine.

J&J vaccine was the third COVID-19 vaccine to receive approval from the FDA after Pfizer/BioNtech and Moderna.
