FM Qureshi expects France’s intervention in Kashmir issue

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, while on call with Jean-Yves Le Drian, the French Foreign Minister, talked about the unlawful acts of India to change the disputed rank of Jammu and Kashmir, thus breaking international law and also UNSC resolutions.

FM Qureshi stressed, to the French Foreign Minister, how this decision by India has greatly threatened the safety and peace of the region and its people.

He also laid down the ever worsening humanitarian condition and human rights which has led to the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir facing a worrisome shortage of food and medical supplies, a lockdown in the last 16 days and a blackout of all communications with the outside world.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi requested the French Foreign Minister to impress, upon Indian, the need of removing the curfew and lessening the sufferings of the residents of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He stated how the entire population of Indian occupied Kashmir is under siege due to complete lockdown and curfew imposed since the 5th of August 2019.

Jean-Yves Le Drian stated how France shares Pakistan’s concerns over the deteriorating situation. He also both the sides involved to carry out a dialogue to address the issue.

The French Foreign Minister emphasized the necessary in ensuring how the situation did not escalate any more than it had already. He stressed how the same message is intended for India a well.

Both foreign ministers agreed to continue hoping for and working toward the peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a French official on Monday, Emmanuel Macron, the French President, will bring up the tensions taking place in Jammu and Kashmir when he meets with Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister, this week in Paris.
